10 Things to Look for at the Lyman Farmers Market This Saturday

If you’ve been wondering what’s worth getting out of bed for on a Saturday morning, we can give you at least ten reasons.

The Lyman Farmers Market is back this Saturday, August 15, and we’ve got a great lineup of local farmers, bakers, makers, young entrepreneurs, good food and really good coffee.

Here are 10 things to put on your list!

1. Caramel Pecan Apple Butter from Eden Acre Farm

I’m not saying you should eat apple butter straight out of the jar with a spoon…but I’m also not saying you shouldn’t.

Eden Acre Farm’s Caramel Pecan Apple Butter is ridiculously good. Put it on toast or biscuits, swirl it into oatmeal, or spoon it over a bowl of vanilla ice cream and call it dessert.

And while you’re there, grab a jar of their Blackberry Honey. It is an absolute favorite around here and one of those things you’ll find yourself putting on everything.

2. Lunch from The Musubi Ladies

Come hungry.

The Musubi Ladies have lunch covered with fried rice Spam musubi, bento boxes and some seriously good Hawaiian-inspired food.

My current order? Huli huli chicken bento with a big glass of POG juice. (Basically Hawaii in a cup.)

3. Cake Pops for the Teachers

Back-to-school season means new teachers, new classrooms and a perfectly reasonable excuse to show up with cake pops.

Sweet Treats by Hailey will have homemade cake pops that would make an adorable little first-week-of-school treat for a teacher.

We’re not saying you’re trying to earn brownie points…

But cake-pop points certainly can’t hurt.

4. Meet Virginia McLean

Virginia McLean, candidate for SC House District 36, will be joining us at the market this Saturday to meet folks, answer questions and chat with members of the community.

She’s also bringing along a craft for the kids to make and take home!

The market is a place for our community to gather, and we’re always glad to provide a space where neighbors can meet and have conversations with the people who want to represent them.

5. BIG Slicing Tomatoes

If your ideal August lunch involves a tomato sandwich, this is your week.

Lyman Market Produce is bringing a bunch of beautiful, big slicing tomatoes. Grab the white bread, mayo, salt and pepper and you’ve got yourself a proper summer lunch.

We’re also celebrating something pretty exciting this week: the Lyman Farmers Market Facebook page has officially grown to more than 3,400 followers!

6. Handmade Gifts from You Otter Create

You Otter Create will have custom glass cutting boards, notepads and other beautiful handmade gifts this weekend.

If you’ve got a birthday, housewarming, wedding or “I probably shouldn’t show up empty-handed” occasion coming up, this is a great booth to visit.

Or just buy something for yourself. We support that too.

7. Coffee, Roasted Nuts & Homemade Jam

Just the Coffee Café is bringing a little bit of everything: locally roasted coffee, roasted nuts and homemade jams.

Grab something to enjoy while you’re walking around the market and another something to take home for later.

8. Try Your Luck at Buggy’s Claw Machine

One of our favorite parts of the market is watching our youngest business owners learn how to make, sell and grow their own businesses.

Buggy’s Boutique is part of our Young Entrepreneurs Program, and she’s bringing something extra fun this week: a claw machine!

Try your luck at winning a prize, then check out her handmade gifts and jewelry while you’re there.

9. The First Taste of Fall

It’s August in South Carolina, which means it may still be approximately 400 degrees outside, but we’re officially allowed to pretend fall is coming.

Dragon’s Hoard Coffee has released her autumn flavors!

Grab an iced coffee and get your first little taste of fall—even if you’re drinking it while standing directly in front of a fan.

10. Shaken Espresso + Fresh Bread

And because apparently one coffee stop isn’t enough…

Walk over to Whisk and Wander Bakeshop for a shaken espresso drink and grab a bag of some of the most incredible bread to take home.

Actually, buy two.

One for later and one for the car ride home. We know how this works.
